Buckling down and climbing the ladder

To recap the last year and a half, I moved back to the US from Brazil in January 2008, the main reason being that I still had a lot of debt from previous years of student loans and credit cards. Now for those of you that know me, I don't spend a lot of money. Years of crappy low-paying jobs didn't give me much of a chance to pay off debt, and finding a job that paid enough in Brazil was difficult, to say the least.

So I came back to Nashville, TN, and got a job at a payment processing company. I've been working at the call center as a customer service rep. This month I'm being promoted to a different department as an assistant administrator. This job involves handling the data for the clients (mostly government agencies) we provide services for. I've been training for the past 2 months and so far it's been going well.

I can't help but feeling that for the next few years I should buckle down and work as hard as I can to get out of debt. Until I get that weight off my shoulders, I'll never be able to move on. So, for the next few years, folks, that's my task.

Congrats on the promotion! If you keep moving up the chain of command, maybe you can cut down on the hair-raising length of time ("the next few years"?!) it will take to pay down that debt.

That's the plan. But even if it takes a few years, it's gotta be done. I wants my freedom, man.
