Conduct report
This is an actual conduct report from the conservative Christian boarding school I went to in Ivory Coast, West Africa. A certain number of these would get you kicked out.

A Farewell to Arms
"If people bring so much courage to this world the world has to kill them to break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry."

La félicité
La Rochefoucauld, from his Maximes:
« La félicité est dans le goût et non pas dans les choses; et c'est par avoir ce qu'on aime qu'on est heureux, et non par avoir ce que les autres trouvent aimable. »
Rough translation:
"Happiness lies in our taste, not in things; and it's by having what we love that we are happy, and not by having what others find lovely."

Days long ago
My earliest memories were of being on the beach in Santos, the city where I was born. Here I am at the beach with my mom and my older brother, 1980. ![]() | ![]() |
...and here I am at that same beach, 27 years later, where it all started. | ![]() |

My bus stop, where I would take the bus to work every morning. | ![]() |
The bus stop downtown where I would take the bus home every night. ![]() | ![]() |
An enduring graffiti across the street from the bus stop downtown. I still wonder who "Magua" is. | ![]() |

Staying afloat
I'm staying afloat but I'm not going anywhere. Still not making enough money to pay off debt. Living frugally, as always. I need a better paycheck.
